We can not deny it! There are certain facts in life that basically every one of us knows, but we often like to repress them. Truths that play a crucial role in our entire lives and in the way we perceive them.
Truths that are even so important that they deeply affect all our goals, our decisions & actions and even our thinking. Whether positive or negative, ultimately depends on how we make these truths part of our reality and how we face them.
1. You will fail
We have all made mistakes that have prevented us from achieving or taking a step forward. Even if it sounds a bit cheesy now: mistakes are human! On the other hand, there are also those moments in life when you seemingly could not do anything different or better and yet end up in defeat or failure.
Whether it’s self-inflicted or not, failures and defeats are no less important to our personal development than the great triumphs & victories in our lives. Pain and setback are as important as joy and happiness, and allow us to grow as a human being when we are ready to accept it and draw the important lessons for our lives.
Whether the failure hits you in sports, at work, in love or anywhere else and forces you to its knees, it’s always about getting up more than others and maybe even you would trust yourself.
Important lesson: It is about learning from one’s own mistakes and the failures of others, accepting them and making them a driver on the way to success. Because this – and this is only safe, if you never lie down and continue to fight – will come too!
2. Only you personally bear the responsibility for your life
It’s easy to point your finger at others or circumstances and claim that they are the reason why you can not do something! Why you are not a good student, an attentive son, a loving partner or a valuable employee. Why your past and thus your life was not as you imagined.
But at the very end, there will be nothing and no one to whom or what you can direct your finger. In the end, only you will be and the supposed reasons why you could not do something will only be yours!
You will realize that the life you lived and the mistakes you made were solely your life and your mistakes. You will realize that you had the control but never used it!
Important lesson: Stop pointing your finger at others and pointing out circumstances when you make a mistake or, in truth, doubt only about yourself and your abilities. Prove responsibility and finally grow up! Take things into your own hands and do not wait for someone to take your work and problems off your shoulders.
3. You will not live forever
Tell me, are you grateful for every new day you have in your life? And do you really appreciate this? Or do you often feel the same way about me and in your head the impression arises that the days in our lives will never end – that there will always be a tomorrow?
The bitter truth, however, is that this impression is nothing more than an illusion that may even have fatal consequences for our motivation and ambition. Believing that there will always be a tomorrow also automatically makes us believe that we will always have another chance to pursue and realize our goals & dreams.
The catch is that you could be dead tomorrow and your dreams and goals will die with you! Even if this idea may seem far away and surreal for you at the moment, the day will come sooner or later when your time here on earth has expired. And I hope for you that you do not take your goals, your dreams and your love to the grave on this day!
Important lesson: start to live now! Because you never know what awaits you behind the next corner. A heart attack, a car accident, even the end of the world is possible! Follow your dreams and let the people who are important to you know that you love them.
4. People will not like you or what you are doing
It does not matter who you are and what you do, there will always be people who dislike you or what you do not – yes, maybe even hate! Whether superstar, fireman or just the “normal guy next door”. No one is spared by the resentment of others!
I think even with Mother Teresa there were people who disliked what this woman did or what she stood for. There are several reasons why people do not just disagree, but try to make that explicit. Reasons like envy, fear or faith.
The key question here is whether that keeps you from doing what you always wanted to do? Whether it keeps you from pursuing your goals & dreams? Because believe me, the fear of what others think or say about you is one of the biggest killers of dreams that exist.
Important Lesson: Not everyone will love you or what you are doing, and that’s fine too. Whatever a problem these people have with you is their problem and not yours. Give your attention to those who motivate and grow you and ignore those who criticize you for no reason!
5. You have not learned
So all of us, how much time do you take daily to educate you & your knowledge? To read books, listen to podcasts & interviews, or watch informative videos & programs? (And no, the so-called “knowledge focuses” in the afternoon television are not included!)
Do you even take the time to learn and develop yourself? To get better! Or do you believe it is enough the knowledge that you got taught in your school career or during your studies?
“To learn means to grow!”
Thanks to the Internet, it’s easier than ever to gain access to all the world’s knowledge, yet only very few actually use this medium wisely. To believe one has already “learned” is naive and reflects the lack of willingness to reach his full potential.
Learning to read, write and do arithmetic is just the tip of the iceberg and even the buffalo of literature in a study is not meaningful. More importantly, you make the decision for yourself to pursue a never-ending self-study program in which you continually teach new knowledge & skills. For example, learn about time management methods & productivity, habits, psychology, flirting or communicating more effectively, strengthening the subconscious or self-confidence.
Important lesson: It would take hundreds of lives to learn all the information and knowledge of this world. But let’s start with it here and today, and ask ourselves to learn as much as possible in this one life.
6. Someone else will always have more than you
Whether in terms of money, friends, partners or customers, there will always be someone who has more than you. And that would not be too bad if we humans did not have the tendency to constantly introduce the “what if?” What if I had all the money he owns? What if I was as happy with my partner as she is?
With these questions we try to emulate the ideals and goals that someone else has set for us just to “keep up”. We forget to appreciate what we already have and begin to crave what others have.
Important lesson: While it is right to take a look from time to time at those who are already ahead of you and you try to learn from them, you still should not live by the standards and expectations of others. Because just because they have more does not mean that they are happier too!
7. Success and money will not make you happy
There is no question that success and money are two essential factors that drive our thinking and action and that are inextricably linked in our society. Whether you like it or not, it does not matter at first.
Many (certainly not all) who wish for “success” these days are automatically longing for the “big money”. And there is basically nothing to complain about and it is not reprehensible. But whether it is the highest goal of life is another question;).
Anyone who pretends to renounce success and money, as other things in life are more important to him – for example, relationships -, it is not always lacking only in confidence and confidence in itself. Because you should have understood that One does not exclude the other!
Success gives our life more meaning! Not because we impress others by doing so, or because people who have a lot of money are more valuable, but because with growing success (no matter what it looks like for a specific reason), we automatically start to value ourselves, and beyond that, a HEALTHY pursuit Success for making the most of us & our capabilities. We realize our potential! Success, when considered & used correctly, is an extremely powerful tool for personal growth.
The money on the other side gives us security and the chance to enjoy all the good things in this world – it’s the reward for all the hard work & growth! These facts make success & money so worthwhile, but you should never forget that these two things are not the essence of happiness.
It takes many factors to be happy, and those who try to end up feeling only through wealth and material possessions will quickly realize that these things are much less fulfilling than they were initially believed.
Important lesson: It is perfectly alright to have success and money set as goals, because those paths allow us to grow as a human being and give our life a direction. However, you should never forget the other options & people that will help you to be truly happy.
8. The problems will never disappear
Surely you know these days, when you feel that a heavy load is lying on you and threatens to crush you. Days when seemingly all the problems in life suddenly haunt one another, and where the world is like a dark and depressive place.
On these days, one would like to crawl somewhere and hope that the problems will disappear by themselves. But that – and that’s a good thing – will not happen!
Problems are part of life and without them we could not grow. Problems make us stronger, make us smarter, make us better! To hope that all the problems will vanish and not return is about the same as confronting the hero in the action movie with no villain. It robs you of all the tension!
Important lesson: Even though times are tough and the problems threaten to overwhelm you, you should never forget that every problem and every hurdle is also a way to move forward. It’s not about trying to banish the problems from your life, it’s about accepting them, solving them one by one and growing on them.
Take these 8 simple, yet incredibly important ideas into your everyday life. In your daily consciousness. Carry them with you every day somewhere in your mind and heart, from where they will help you to better direct & make the important decisions of your life.
For one thing is clear: however bitter these truths may be, they all have the potential to change our lives for the better.
Use your potential,
