New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said 49 people were killed in the attacks and 48 people were injured, 20 of them were heavy. Ardern told that the attackers had not been on the police’s suspects list before. Prime Minister Ardern said in a statement, “The security threat level has been raised high, security measures have been increased. We respond in the most appropriate way. All flights were stopped within our borders in the Christchurch region. Health services will continue.”

Ardern said 4 people were taken into custody because of the attacks.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that one of the detainees was an Australian citizen.
